Cuckoo
Undersea Installation
A grandfather clock case provides the frame for this installation, which to me has something of an underwater feeling.

Installation shots from show at Madison Public Library Dec 2016-Jan 2017
My work is on display through Jan 26, 2017 at the main branch of the Madison Public Library. The exhibit contains a wall for visitors to write messages of solidarity and appreciation for those groups of people who are targeted and undervalued in our community and our nation, as well as a wish box where you can leave a good wish for another visitor and take a good wish for yourself that someone else left.

Untitled (hair machine)
This one is nicknamed "hair machine" and includes my own hair that I saved many years ago. The shelf has a drawer that contains butterfly wings and several pairs of scissors. The piece also contains small bones, including a broken wishbone, and some white angora. On one level, for me, it is about aging.

Untitled (undersea)
This creature reminds me of a diving bell helmet. It uses parts from an oil lamp and a typewriter.

Flower
I've been thinking about plant forms for a couple of years and am finally hitting on some interesting directions... So far 2016 is the year of the plant. This "flower" incorporates scientific glass, bicycle gear, ball bearings in vials for holding watch parts, typewriter parts, vacuum tubes, light bulbs, parts from a couple of oil lamps, some things from thrift stores, clock springs and gears, adding machine parts. I made the top portion and then thought maybe it should be like a "scientific demonstration" plant display in which you get to see the whole root system; then I had to think about what kind of "dirt" would such a thing be planted in. I thought it should grow from a bulb, but it ended up a vacuum tube.
