Flower

I've been thinking about plant forms for a couple of years and am finally hitting on some interesting directions... So far 2016 is the year of the plant. This "flower" incorporates scientific glass, bicycle gear, ball bearings in vials for holding watch parts, typewriter parts, vacuum tubes, light bulbs, parts from a couple of oil lamps, some things from thrift stores, clock springs and gears, adding machine parts. I made the top portion and then thought maybe it should be like a "scientific demonstration" plant display in which you get to see the whole root system; then I had to think about what kind of "dirt" would such a thing be planted in. I thought it should grow from a bulb, but it ended up a vacuum tube.
